BBQ Pork Shoulder Steaks Recipe - Southern Style

BBQ Pork - Southern Style Shoulder Steaks

This is a fantastic way to use Pork Shoulder. It's easy to cook and easy to clean up plus everyone will love it. The important part of this barbecue recipe is to make sure your grill is nice and hot before you put the steaks on. Never put your steaks on a cool or warm grill!

  • 1−1/2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
  • 1 tablespoon finely grated lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon dried marjoram
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed caraway seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 8 boneless 3/4 inch pork shoulder steaks

  1. In a small bowl combine paprika, coriander, lemon zest, marjoram, garlic powder, salt, pepper, cumin, caraway seeds, and cinnamon.
  2. Rub herbs generously into both sides of steaks
  3. Cover with Saran wrap and chill in the referigerator for an hour
  4. Bring gas grill up to high heat or start charcoal and let it be getting the briquets white while you wait
  5. Place steaks in center of cooking grate.
  6. Grill 10 minutes for medium or 12 to 14 minutes for welldone. Only turn once as this will help keep the temperature even and keep the moisture in.
Serve with Wild Rice or Potato Salad! You can use this barbecue recipe with or without barbecue sauce, I prefer it without.

Bonus Left Over Recipe Tip

In the unlikely event that you have any left overs, I take the steaks and freeze them. Then on the day I want to cook them, I thaw them out. Once thawed, I put the steaks into a Crock Pot on high and cover with Salsa for 1 to 2 hours or until they're so tender you can pull them apart with a fork! YUM!
