- 1 large finely chopped onion,
- 3 chopped and de-seeded jalapeno peppers,
- ½ cup of ketchup,
- ½ cup of water,
- ¼ cup of vinegar,
- ¼ cup of olive oil,
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice,
- 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce,
- 1 tablespoon of Louisana Hot sauce,
- 2 tablespoons of brown sugar or honey,
- 1 tablespoon of hot or mild mustard (whatever you prefer),
- 3 teaspoons of liquid smoke,
- ½ teaspoon of cayenne powder,
- 2 stalks of celery, cut in short lengths
- salt and pepper to your taste.
In a saucepan mix together all ingredients until well blended and then bring them to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 20 to 30 minutes. Strain and let cool and thicken.
Tip: the celery pieces are delicious!
